Deb and Mike are passionate about helping boards achieve their best organizational outcomes.
Deb Zila and Mike Seitz have a combined 80+ years of governing board experience, including leadership roles in small, self-selected volunteer boards (HOA, PTA), appointed boards (civic, foundation, recreation, pastoral, chamber of commerce, university, non-profit, special project, and elected boards (K-12).
Deb is a graduate of Iowa State University and served on the Shawnee Mission School District Board of Education for 12½ years, with 5 years in board leadership roles. She helped bring Real World Learning to the district and currently serves in several roles, including being a mentor in the Women in Leadership program and is on the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce Foundation board.
Mike graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and served 11 years on the Blue Valley School District Board of Education. He currently serves on the Johnson County Mental Health board and is on the Board of Trustees at Baker University.
Both were elected to serve multiple terms on their local school boards of education, have served several terms as president of those boards, and have served on the governing board of the Kansas Association of School Boards.
They have unique backgrounds that allows them to guide boards with a peer-to-peer perspective. By offering an intensely individualized and objective approach to coaching, BOARDynamics helps boards review their Purpose, Roles, Goals and Behaviors and realize how those actions impact their organization. Typical consultant practices - Post-it notes, dots on wall mounted sheets, and small group breakouts - will not be used in our conversation with boards. This is professional development for boards.
